What Is Great Strides?

The Great Strides walk takes place every year to help raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and fund research for a cure. The CFF is one of the most efficient health charities in the country - more than $.90 out of every dollar you contribute will be used to fund the vital programs of the CF Foundation! That is money that is put toward research for a cure and programs that support patients and help to improve their lives and offer them hope. Great Strides brings teams of people together all walking together and pledging to help find a cure for this devestating disease. In 2008, over 20 people from states around the U.S. walked withTeam Cassiebug and helped us raise over $4,500! Even though the Great Strides event is officially over for 2008, there are still things you can do to help Cassidy and thousands of children like her.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP

1. Make a donation to the CFF through Team Cassiebug. Every little bit helps! If you can only donate $1, that's still $1 closer to finding a cure for CF. Please remember - ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE!

2. Link to this website and Cassidy's videos to spread awareness about CF. It's amazing how many people have never heard of CF or just think of it as a lung disease. The reality of the challenges Cassidy and others like her face is so much more than that! Putting a face on CF means taking a step closer to finding a cure by motivating more people to get involved, donate money, help with research or just share information.

3. Purchase a copy of Cadberry's Letters and donate it to your local library, elementary school or CF Clinic. In 2008 I self-published a children's book about CF for preschoolers. Aimed at the youngest sufferers of this disease, Cadberry's Letters uses language they can understand to explain CF and it's impact on a child's life. Beautifully illustrated, this short story is great for CF patients and non-patients alike. The book is available on Amazon.com and also at LuLu.com. For every copy of Cadberry's Letters purchased through LuLu.com, $3 will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
